Quote Of The Day – Being Yourself

Hi there my beautiful lovelies hope you are doing well and staying safe. Today I will share with the inspirational quote of the day.

Quote of the Day

I found this quote very interesting. Never apologize for being yourself. You are a unique part of the puzzle we call life. Being you allow you to be free. Be true to yourself. Be proud to be you. It will help you live intentionally. I love to be apologetically me. I may be weird, corky, and simply blah, but that’s who I am. I will not apologize for being me and will hold life down following the societal so called norm. If anyone has a problem with that, I don’t care. Just be you. Your life will love your for it.

My dear lovelies! I would love to hear what you think about this quote? How would you interpret it? Please leave your response in the comment below. I look forward to hearing your perspectives.

No Kid Hungry:

America’s kids need us. The coronavirus is closing schools nationwide, and millions of vulnerable children are losing the school meals they depend on. For some, it’s the only food they’ll receive on a given day. We have a plan to feed kids, but we need your help today to continue our work to ensure every kid gets three meals a day. Manna Food Center, a nonprofit organization, strives to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County through food distribution, education, and advocacy. Millions of children go to bed hungry in America every year, sadly it’s worse now! Today, 14 million children regularly miss meals — three times more than during the Great Recession and five times more than before the pandemic.

Many parents have lost their job during the pandemic. Sadly, that shows no sign of stopping. Your donation can bring relief to the millions worried about where their next meal will come from. It’s even worse for Latino and Black families, whose rates of nutrition insecurity have spiked to 25% and 30%. In the world’s wealthiest country, this is unconscionable.

Even before the pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated 37 million people in America struggled with hunger and nutrition. The Centers for Disease Control reports 76% of people killed by COVID-19 had at least one underlying condition, most of which were diet-related. Diet-related diseases also fuel skyrocketing health care costs, which rose from 5% to 28% of the federal budget in the past 50 years.

Let’s make the world better, kinder, brighter. Every dollar you give will create real change. $1 will feed 5 hungry children here in the US, but $1,000 will feed 50,000 starving children overseas. Be the good in the lives of many by giving right now.

Quote of the Day – Be in the Moment

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today I want to share with you a beautiful quote I came across. Hope your day be filled with love and joy.

The Quote

Through the chaos and noise of life, take the time to be calm and taken in the silence to be your solace. Listen to what the world has to say. Trust me you will be positively surprised as to what you can see through your ears. Believe in yourself and practice the art of mindfulness.

Growing Up With Anxiety

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Mental health has been at the forefront of today’s culture. Whether watching Simon Biles bravely stepping away from the Olympic friend to focus on her mental health or watching Michael Phelps or Prince Henry talking about their struggles with mental health, more people are talking about their struggles. How was it for me to live with mental health issues? Today you will hear my story growing up with anxiety.

The stigma of Mental Health

Feeling Down

I have told you about growing up with ADHD. Besides that, I also had to fight a monster that I couldn’t see or control. It was my anxiety. I always felt that there was something wrong with me. I always had a knot in my heart and pressure on my chest like a shadow I could not shake. I couldn’t talk to anyone. Mental health problem is something you don’t talk about. There is a huge stigma about talking about mental health, especially in Southeast Asia. The stigma of mental health in those communities is real. I grew up hearing “it’s all in your head”. An extended family member who I now know had schizophrenia, was isolated and away from everyone else. No one took her seriously. She tried committing suicide. It was her plea for help that no one heard.

Growing Up With Anxiety

I was always anxious about everything. I didn’t like the person I was and felt like a small fish in the big ocean, getting crushed by the big waves and unable to swim. I was laughed at at school for being a scary cat. My anxiety made me susceptible to being bullied and shattered my self-esteem. I had separation anxiety (was called a big baby), social anxiety (called too shy), and very low self-esteem. I hated going to school or going out. No one heard my cry for help. Well, being a middle and high school in the 90s and early 2000s was no fun either. The pressure of school, to excel academically, dealing with teenage life was overwhelming. I still remember throwing up before school, not knowing what caused it but was always told it’s because I was too skinny.

In college, I went from the upper 90s to low 90s weight, with the pressure of the added load of college, and then 9/11. Having panic attacks became the norm in my college life. It was not until I started working, I learned the issue I was facing, the enemy within. I was introduced to mindfulness-based medication and I finally saw light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel. I still have my ups and downs, but my support system is more aware and open to mental health, and that made all the difference.

My dear lovelies! I would love to hear about your struggles and triumph with mental health. I look forward to your wonderful feedback and stories.

20 Years Later – Remembrance Of 9/11 Part 2

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. 20 years ago today our lives have changed forever. 20 years ago on this day, two planes crashed into the two towers of the World Trade Center, one crashed into the Pentagon, while crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, just 20 minutes flying time away from the Capitol building.

As I am writing this post my eyes have filled with tears remembering that tragic day. Twenty years have passed by but the emotion is still so raw and fresh. I still remember that clear that day.

Remembering 9/11

After I spoke to my mom, I started to walk home, a journey of 2 miles. As I started my walk home, I saw fighter planes in the sky. It was then it started to dawn on me the severity of the situation. Any business with a TV inside had small crowds hovering over it. It was at that time I started to walk fast. A two-mile walk, which usually is not a bad walk, felt long and hard. I started to think about the lives affected. What people are going through. I was very scared and was panicking. I finally felt some ease watching my mom’s face walking towards me. I hugged her tight and we went to our roof. From there, we could clearly see the black smoke coming out of the Pentagon. I walked into the apartment just to see one of the towers collapsing. I was met by my screaming grandfather, who hugged me tightly.

My friends, let’s take the time to honor the legacy of the heroes lost and the innocent lives lost. That horrific day changed our lives but it also showed us the strength of coming together, united against a common enemy.

We will never forget.

what if

The What Ifs

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today I want to talk to you about the big elephant in the room that eats us up every day of our lives. It’s us.

What if?

We spend more than half of our lives regretting the steps we have taken in life.  We keep asking ourselves, what if? What if I did this differently? What if I did not take this step? What we don’t realize is that these what ifs of our lives hinders us from fulfilling the “what I can” in our lives. Every day we wake up rerunning our failures and wishing that we could go back and do this different.

Fear

My dear lovelies, the only thing that stopping us from moving forward and fulfilling our dreams is the “what ifs” and its core cause, fear. Remember what FDR said, “Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”. It is our fear that paralyzes us from moving ahead in life – the fear of failure, the fear of disappointment, the fear of the unknown as so on.  When we see a new food that we never tried before, we hesitate – what if I don’t like the taste; what if it tastes bad; what if I am disappointed.

One thing that I have learned from intentional living or mindfulness meditation is to savor the current moment and not let our fear get in our way. Of course I still get bogged down by the “what ifs” in my life, but I have learned to acknowledge them and move on. Furthermore, I try to make sure that my fear does not lead to more what ifs. When my mind asks “what if I am disappointed”, I tell myself if I don’t try I will never know. We all learn from the mistakes in our lives. If you really pay attention, you will see that what we consider as our mistakes, may likely be just happy accidents.

My dear lovelies. I want to leave today by asking you one thing. What do you do when you are bombarded by the “what ifs” in your life? How do you address them? I look forward to your valuable inputs.

Part Two of 7 Chakra Series – Sacral Chakra or Svadhisthana

Sacral Chakra:

The second chakra or the Sacral Chakra is located just above the pubic bone and is responsible for passion, sexuality, intimacy, money, creativity, and joy. The balance of the Sacral Chakra allows us to improve our relationships with ourselves and others. It is associated with the water element and is characterized by movement and flow in our emotions and thoughts. It also supports personal expansion and the formation of identity through relating to others and to the world.

Color of Sacral Chakra:

The sacral chakra is most commonly represented with the color orange. However, since it’s associated with the element of water, it could also take the color of very light blue or white on more rare occasions. The orange of the second chakra is translucent and has a transparent quality.

The Shakti Mudra:

This feminine mudra for the sacral chakra works to harness sexuality and sensuality.  With your palms in front of your chest, press your pinky and ring fingertips together. Fold your thumbs into your palms, inside of your index and middle finger.

Mantra – VAM:

Vam is the bija, or seed, sound of the sacral chakra. When chanting the mantra, vam, the power of the sound vibrations is believed to cleanse this chakra, which is the energy center of creativity, pleasure, and sexuality.

12931900 – the sacral chakra

Yogis chant vam to heal the sacral center physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Mantras, particularly single-syllable bija mantras, are usually chanted for their healing sound vibrations, rather than any specific meaning. Chakra mantras like vam are thought to clear the subtle energy pathways in the body in order to create positive change.

Another Poem By Sarnina – Five

Hi, there my lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. Today I want to share with you another poem by my sister, Sarnina. As I have mentioned in the previous posts, my sister and I are both tied by mental health problems. She suffers from depression. Her battle with depression has made it harder for her to open up with others. She uses poetry to express her feeling.

Darkness

I hope you can connect with my sister through her poem. As you can see in her poem, my sister pours her heart out into her poems. She connects to her feelings through her poems. I love to hear your feedback about her poem.

My Latest Beauty Finds at Mac Cosmetics

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. Today I will share with you my latest beauty finds at Mac Cosmetics. I love the products from Mac Cosmetics.

To be honest, when I first started buying makeup products years ago, I first started at Mac Cosmetics. I love their products but it was hard for a novice makeup person to find her way through Mac. It was hard for me to navigate through the vast collection at Mac. The only item I absolutely loved is their lipsticks. At Sephora, I had someone color match the products to my skin tone, and learn the basics of makeup and beauty products. Once I learned about my skin tone and type along with my products suited to my skin tone and type, I was able to use that to buy more beauty products at Mac Cosmetics.

After a long time, I finally did a small shopping spree (with cash of course) at Mac Cosmetics. I got the following items: Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, Mac Studio Fix Perfecting Powder, Powder Kiss Liquid LipColour in Got A Callback, and Powder Kiss Liquid LipColour in Over The Taupe.

Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation ($33)

It is a one-step pressed powder and foundation that gives skin a 12-hour ultra-matte finish while controlling shine and without causing acne. It does not look cakey at all. I give a light no-makeup makeup look. This foundation gives skin a smooth and even ultra-matte finish with medium-to-full buildable coverage, with a velvety texture that allows the skin to breathe. M∙A∙C Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is long-wearing, color-true, non-caking, non-streaking, and non-settling – all for 12 hours.

Mac Studio Fix Perfecting Powder ($29)

A pro-quality, refined loose powder to set makeup with a matte finish. Infused with nourishing ingredients, it wears comfortably without feeling drying. With sheer coverage, M∙A∙C Studio Fix Perfecting Powder is a universal makeup must for beginners and buffs alike.

Powder Kiss Liquid LipColour in Got A Callback ($24)

This is a liquid lipcolour with a whipped, mousse-like texture that delivers soft-focus moisture-matte, comfortable color with ten hours of hydration. I love the way the color looks on my skin tone. The special blend of vitamin E, powders, and emollient properties provides excellent cushion, flexibility, wear, and moisture that will leave lips looking and feeling soft and smooth all day.

Powder Kiss Liquid LipColour in Over The Taupe ($24)

This is a nude tone. I love the color. I love wearing nude colors at work on a regular basis. I again love the way it looks on my skin tone. and the soft, hydrating, and yet matte lip color.

Verdict: Overall, I love each of the products that I got at Mac. Through items, Mac does live up to its reputation as a provider of quality beauty products. While trying these items, I went back to my regular trip to the Mac Store in Union Station in Washington D.C. I love the interactions, the quality you never get online.

My dear lovelies! I hope you enjoy the post as much as I loved sharing it. Please let me know about your favorite products at Mac Cosmetics.

Yoga Nidra – A Deep Relaxation Meditation

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. Today, I will share with you the only technique that has helped me with insomnia without any medications with any side effects or expensive items. This technique is known as Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra slows the wavelengths in your mind as you slowly enter a sleep-like state. The experience often begins with sensing the body and mindfully breathing to start the relaxation response in your body. This response balances both your left and right brain, plus the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, in preparation for a yogic sleep.

In addition, as your mind begins to quiet, you’ll slowly start to recognize that your thoughts are simply thoughts as they come and go. As a result, you develop a deeper awareness of yourself in this resting state. You will also learn to integrate this sense of mindfulness into your everyday life. Research on the overall benefits of yoga and yoga Nidra has revealed improvements in emotional self-regulation—with reduced levels of depression, stress, and anxiety—and an increase in mood, quality of life, and well-being.

Hope this helps you relax your mind and help you enter a sleep-like state full of sweet dreams and calm relaxation. I will end with a quote by Rumi, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built.”

Medium Post Five: Poem By Sarnina (Three)

The Mind 2

Like her previous works, in this poem, I can feel the raw emotion that my sister is usually unable to express verbally.  Through these poems, I want to make sure that others can see the same raw emotions that I can see.
