Remembering The Notorious RBG – A Poem By Sarnina Khan

Remembering The Notorious RBG:

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today, the Notorious RBG is the first woman and Jewish American to lie in the Capitol. Ruth Bader Ginsberg has paved the way for so many women. She graduated joint first in her class, but as a mother, woman, and Jewish, could not get a job as a lawyer.  Ginsburg entered academia as a professor at Rutgers Law School and Columbia Law School, teaching civil procedure as one of the few women in her field.

Ginsburg spent much of her legal career as an advocate for gender equality and women’s rights, winning many arguments before the Supreme Court. She advocated as a volunteer attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union and was a member of its board of directors and one of its general counsel in the 1970s. In 1993, RBG became the second woman to become a US Supreme Court judge. The death of RBG left a  hole in the fight for gender equality. My sister wrote a poem honoring the great RBG. Today, I will share that poem with you.

Poem By the Talented Sarnina – Six

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. Today, I want to share with you another poem by the talented Sarnina, my sister. This poem is dedicated to our grandma who passed away on her birthday after battling lung cancer for five years. The poem is called, Memories, and I hope you like the poem.

Another Poem By Sarnina – Five

Hi, there my lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. Today I want to share with you another poem by my sister, Sarnina. As I have mentioned in the previous posts, my sister and I are both tied by mental health problems. She suffers from depression. Her battle with depression has made it harder for her to open up with others. She uses poetry to express her feeling.

A Poem By Sarnina – Four

Hi, there my lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. Today I want to share with you another poem by my sister, Sarnina. With the social and racial injustices happening in our country, my sister pours out her view of the current society.

Medium Post Five: Poem By Sarnina (Three)

Anxiety and Depression are two mental health disorders that are connected to each other. I know that a study I published over five years ago showed that among adults with congenital heart disease, those who were anxious were 19 times more likely to be depressed. My sister and I are interconnected through our mental health diagnosis of depression and anxiety, respectively. Due to her dyslexia, she has been suffering from depression, while I deal with anxiety and ADHD. We are not only connected by the eternal bond of sisterhood but also our mental health.

Again, I am attaching my artwork to illustrate my perspective on the mind, and mental health. Please show her the support that you have shown me. Your kind word and encouragement will mean a lot. Nevertheless, we would love to hear your honest feedback. What do you think about the poem. Have you gone through similar internal battle with yourself? As mentioned before, in her poems, she pours her heart out, one thing that is hard for her to do due to her dyslexia. Hope you will be able to connect with her emotion through her poems.

Medium Post Four: Poem By Sarnina (Two)

I am an artist using, using my artwork as an outlet to let my ADHD self free. It also allows me to use my right brain, a key component to mindful living and being self-aware. Just as paintings are my outlets, poems are my sister’s outlet to let her dyslexics self run free. With her permission, I am sharing one such poem. Please show her the same support you have shown me.

This poem is dedicated to the one person who was her friend, mentor, confidant, and guardian angel. With his passing, she lost her best friend, mentor, confidant, and guardian angel. Hope you can feel the same grief in this poem, as I do. In her poem, she pours her heart out, one thing that is hard for her to do due to her dyslexia. Hope you will be able to connect with her emotion through her poems. She wrote this poem dedicating to our grandpa just a few days before the death of our grandma nine years ago

My Poem About the Capitol Insurrection

Today, as the second of impeachment trial of Trump is about to start. I want to dedicated this poem to the day of insurrection. I hope you enjoy my poem. I would love to hear your feedback.

“To storm the Capitol, to smash windows, to occupy offices, and to threaten the safety of duly elected officials is not protest. It is insurrection. The world is watching—and like so many other Americans, I am shocked and saddened that our nation, so long a beacon of light, hope and democracy, has come to such a dark moment.”
