No Kid Hungry:

America’s kids need us. The coronavirus is closing schools nationwide, and millions of vulnerable children are losing the school meals they depend on. For some, it’s the only food they’ll receive on a given day. We have a plan to feed kids, but we need your help today to continue our work to ensure every kid gets three meals a day. You can click above to donate to mygofundme page donation going directly to the organization, or you can click on the direct link to the site.

Manna Food Center, a nonprofit organization, strives to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County through food distribution, education, and advocacy. Millions of children go to bed hungry in America every year, sadly it’s worse now! Today, 14 million children regularly miss meals — three times more than during the Great Recession and five times more than before the pandemic.

Many parents have lost their job during the pandemic. Sadly, that shows no sign of stopping. Your donation can bring relief to the millions worried about where their next meal will come from. It’s even worse for Latino and Black families, whose rates of nutrition insecurity have spiked to 25% and 30%. In the world’s wealthiest country, this is unconscionable.

Even before the pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated 37 million people in America struggled with hunger and nutrition. The Centers for Disease Control reports 76% of people killed by COVID-19 had at least one underlying condition, most of which were diet-related. Diet-related diseases also fuel skyrocketing health care costs, which rose from 5% to 28% of the federal budget in the past 50 years.

Let’s make the world better, kinder, brighter. Every dollar you give will create real change. $1 will feed 5 hungry children here in the US, but $1,000 will feed 50,000 starving children overseas. Be the good in the lives of many by giving right now.

Living Mindfully Through Gardening

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today, I want to take the time to talk about living mindfully through gardening.

Living Mindfully

What does it mean to live mindfully? It is about living with awareness in the present moment. The mindful living meaning involves taking care of your actions, words, and feelings to ensure that you live a good and present life. It’s about not letting life pass you by while living in reactions and in your head. Anything that helps you declutter your mind and bring it to the present moment will help you withe mindful living. I am no expert on mindful living and I will not pretend to me one. However, what my training and research has showed me is that you don’t have to be perfect to live mindfully. It takes years of practice to achieve complete mindfulness. However, what I as a regular Joe have learned to do, is to take each of the small victories of mindful awareness as success. I try to do things that helps me become more aware of the present moment and avoid those that creates a barrier. Additionally, gardening is known to reduce stress, anxiety and depression.

Living Mindfully Through Gardening

My dear lovelies! I am no gardening expert, nor do I garden. However, I have seen my dad get completely taken by the moments when he gardens. He is completely engulfed by his surroundings and no distracted by the world when he gardens. As seasoned gardeners already know — and those new to gardening are just discovering — there’s something incredibly healing and hopeful about planting seeds and watching them grow. If the garden is a place that offers a sense of peace and pleasure, adding elements of mindfulness to this naturally meditative hobby may make the activity even more impactful on our well-being.

Mindfulness in Enjoying a Garden

Nonetheless, what I have learned as an observer is that garden is equally rewarding for the observer. Just being in my garden is incredibly healing and it provides an immense feeling of peace and tranquility. I cannot tell you how much being in my garden has helped me ground to the present moment. It helps me connect to nature and not get distracted by the outside noise.

My Garden: Living Mindfully Through Gardening

Now, every morning, I spend couple of minutes outside in my garden, just taking a deep breath, and take a moment to connect to the earth and its beautify and express my gratitude for being there in the moment. Besides, scientists have discovered that the mycobacterium found in soil can improve brain functions while boosting moods. The mycobacterium vaccae found in the soil increases serotonin produced in the brain (also known as the “happy” chemical). By getting your hands dirty, you’re also making your brain happy! Hence, why not enjoy such vast beautify to boost my mood and ground myself?

My dear beautiful lovelies! Whether you garden or just love enjoying a beautiful garden take the time to connect to the tranquility of a garden and boost your mood and become aware of your present moment. Hope you enjoyed this post. Please let me know about your experience with comment below. What else help you anchor to the present moment?

Enjoying The Moment

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today, I want to take the time to talk about taking living in the moment. I will talk about enjoying the moment.

Life in Auto-pilot

people walking near busy street beside different vehicles on road surrounded with high rise buildings
Photo by Valeriia Miller on Pexels.com

We live our life in auto-pilot. I am guilty as well. Always so busy, with no time for anything. My auto-pilot life include breakfast, work, shopping, eating, and sleeping with little time to breath. However, what the past few days and even the past two years have taught us is that life is too short. Before you can blink it can end. I have been thinking about that a lot. When my uncle passed away on Valentine’s day this year, I couldn’t stop but think about the last time I spoke to him. I still read the text I sent him just less than two months before. However, what gets me the most is that due to auto-pilot life I have not spoken to him for a month before his death.

Trust me, I do try to live intentionally and practice living in the moment, but life do get in the way often, and before I knew it, even if I want to, I cannot talk to my uncle anymore. I think of those times with him and his loving advises. Yes, I do have small regrets about not calling him sooner and giving my gratitude. We all have those mistakes, if after the two years of uncertainty, I have succumbed to the auto-pilot life. Now, we all have seen the horrific massacre of innocent children in Uvalde. I can’t stop crying and feeling the intense pain.

Living in the Moment

My dear lovelies! We tend to take life for granted. We always think we are too busy to stop and take a deep breath, hug our loved ones, express our gratitude towards and ourselves and our loved ones. What that does at the end is life full of small regrets, and what ifs. Living in the moment take lots of practice and dedication but the reward is amazing. According to the National Association for Continence Health Blog, studies show that people who focus on seeking pleasure in the moment are happier than those who are focused on the past. And those that take the time to notice more of the small things and enjoy the simple pleasures of life are happier and often more productive.

silhouette of person raising its hand

Nonetheless, I couldn’t have practiced living in the moment without first acknowledging the past. What each of my experience and surrounding has taught me. It’s impossible to just live in the moment. In order to appreciate the present, we need to acknowledge the past and learn to let go. Our experience makes us who we are. Whether the recent events in the world (pandemic, war, shootings) or my life (family illness, and deaths) I can’t learn to appreciate the present moment, without acknowledging the past and learning to let go. Yes, I have lost my uncle, and even loved ones in the pandemic, and seen the chaos that is happening around me, but what that does is that it allows me to appreciate what I have.

Now, every morning, I spend couple of minutes outside, just taking a deep breath, and enjoy my garden or just the fresh air, and take a moment to acknowledge the past and focus on express towards the current moment. I am grateful to for my life, my loved ones. I take the time every weeks to talk with my loved ones and share some good moments. If the encounter is not pleasant, I acknowledge it and let go as life is indeed too short to hold on to negativity.

My dear beautiful lovelies! Don’t dwell on the past or regrets. Acknowledge their presents and let go, and take a deep breath and express gratitude for the present. Take the time to express gratitude towards yourselves, and your loved ones. Hug your loved ones a little tighter. Just remember, life is too short and there might not be a tomorrow.

Get Some Inner Zen

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. When was the last time you sat down and took a deep breathe? Life and it’s moments are fleeting by fast. Take a moment to take a deep breath and get yourself grounded and back to the current moment. Hope these classic zen poems and quotes and the beautiful videos to help you find your inner zen. Hence let get some inner zen.

What is Inner Zen?

macro photography of water waves

According to the MindBodyGreen website, Zen means meditation, and loosely translated, it means being aware and present in your current surroundings. This guide will help you take your first steps towards a journey that may uncover a special place that leaves you calm, balanced, energized, and uncluttered within your mind, spirit, and body. It also describes a type of Buddhism in which meditation is used to stay present and non-judgmental. Zen is practiced diligently over a lifetime.

Finding Inner Zen

Anytime you want, you can stop and pull the blinds shut and turn your gaze inward. When you do this, you are looking into the beautiful stillness of your inner world, and it is the first step toward becoming more at peace. Internal zen is a simple practice of connecting with yourself daily. It means taking your time to connect with yourself daily. Whether your spend 5 minutes or an hour, doing this will help you find inner peace. Research, published in Experimental Biology in 2018, has shown that you get an instant result after meditating for one hour, one time only. From the very first time you meditate, you’re reducing stress and anxiety from your mind, your body and emotions.

My lovelies! Hope you enjoyed this post. Please let me know about your experience with comment below.

Guided Meditation for Stress Relief and Sleep

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. When was the last time you sat down and took a deep breathe? Life and it’s moments are fleeting by fast. Whether starting to go back to work in person or just dealing with the fast moving life in general, it can be quite stressful. Today, I will discuss with you some self-guided ways to deal with stress. Let us do a guided meditation for stress relief and sleep.

Impact of Stress

According to the Pharmacy Times, stress can have serious health implications, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and exacerbating medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and hypertension. Stress is unavoidable, but learning to manage it effectively is critical. Stress is a fact of life and can affect individuals in a variety of ways.

Stress can take a toll not just mentally, but also physically and even financially. A new study finds that certain socioeconomic and ethnic groups in the United States face a high burden of systematic stressors, putting them at increased risk for a variety of health hazards and reducing their life expectancy. According to the American Psychological Association, mental health experts synthesized research on stress and health among certain socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic groups to show the long-term effects of stress. According to the report, men who make in the top 1 percent of income live almost 15 years longer than those in the bottom 1 percent. For women, the difference is 10 years of longevity.

Relieving Stress

Stress management gives you a range of tools to reset and to recalibrate your alarm system. It can help your mind and body adapt (resilience). Without it, your body might always be on high alert. Over time, chronic stress can lead to serious health problems. Hence, let us all make a special effort if set aside little bit of our time everyday to address stress. Both our body and soul will thank us for it.

Gratitude Affirmations Intentions

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! I hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today I will talk to you about the intentions for gratitude. Let us begin the journey of gratitude affirmations Intentions.

Gratitude

According to Dr. Summer Allen of Barkley University, most people have an instinctive understanding
of what gratitude is, but it can be surprisingly difficult to define. Dr. Allen states that researchers have developed some frameworks for conceptualizing gratitude so that it can be studied scientifically.

Robert Emmons and Michael McCullough define gratitude as a two-step process: 1) “recognizing that one has obtained a positive outcome” and 2) “recognizing that there is an external source for this positive outcome. ”While most of these positive benefits come from other people—hence gratitude’s reputation as an “other-oriented” emotion—people can also experience gratitude toward God, fate, nature, etc.

The Origins Of Gratitude Research suggests that gratitude is not simply a cultural construct. It has deep roots that are embedded in our evolutionary history, our brains and DNA, and in child development.

Benefits of Gratitude

Research suggests that gratitude may be associated with many benefits for individuals, including
better physical and psychological health, increased happiness and life satisfaction, decreased materialism, and more. Research also shows that gratitude may be one of the most powerful ways of boosting happiness. A 2009 study from National Institutes of Health (NIH) has even found that our hypothalamus (the part of our brain that regulates several bodily functions) is activated when we feel gratitude or are kind to others. This means, essentially, gratitude helps us function.

When we feel grateful, we’re also rewarded with a hit of dopamine – a feel-good chemical. This encourages us to do it again and again, so once you start, it’s easy to keep the habit up.

  1. Makes us happier: Robert Emmons has found through his work and multiple studies that gratitude does indeed increase happiness and reduce feelings of depression. Gratitude has also been found to reduce other negative emotions, including envy, resentment and even regret.
  2. Reduces stress: Gratitude has been found to help us regulate our emotions better, and this is an integral part of managing stress. Looking at participants’ heart rates before, during and after practicing gratitude, a 2017 study published in Scientific Reports found that heart rates decreased. Our heart rate decreasing is linked to us feeling calmer, so it’s easy to see the link here.
  3. Improves self-esteem: It turns out thinking about what we’re thankful for can help us feel better about ourselves. A 2014 study published in the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology looked into the effect practicing gratitude had on athletes and found it increased their self-esteem. It’s also been found that those who are grateful more often tend to appreciate other people’s accomplishments more, rather than comparing.
  4. Makes us more resilient: Resilience is a key component of our mental well-being and gratitude could play a role here too. As well as reducing stress, gratitude may help us overcome trauma. A 2006 study published in Behavior Research and Therapy found that war veterans who felt higher levels of gratitude experienced lower rates of post-traumatic stress disorder.
  5. Helps us sleep better:  Ending your day on a positive note could help you sleep better and for longer. A 2011 study published in Applied Psychology: Health and Well-Being found that all it takes is 15 minutes of writing about what you’re grateful for to have a positive impact on your sleep.
  6. Improves physical health: Those who practice gratitude have been found to exercise more regularly and get check-ups more often. Perhaps unsurprisingly then, a 2012 study published in Personality and Individual Differences found that these people also experience fewer aches and pains and generally feel healthier than those who do not practice gratitude.

Personal Power Through Awareness

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! I hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today I will talk to you about soothing anxiety and thus gaining personal power through awareness.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a disorder that affects an individual both physically and mentally, and half of the time it coincides with depression. Dizzy spells, increased heart rate, tremors, upset stomach/nausea and headaches are some examples of physical side effects. Mental triggers such as financial stress, an overwhelming workload, and feelings of being trapped or confined can cause panic attacks or episodes of anxiety that feel almost unbearable. I have dealt with anxiety most of my life, though unaware of the effect it was having on me.

Much of anxiety comes from fear about what might happen in the future. You become nervous about an upcoming medical test or a flight you will be taking. You start feeling anxiety about scenarios that will never happen. It can even lead you to believe that being anxious can keep bad things from occurring The wiring of neurons in the brain cannot distinguish the difference between real or imagined events and reacts the same way toward each.

Anxiety Awareness

We’re not always aware of our own anxiety. But the first step in feeling better, is to notice what we’re feeling. Deepen awareness of body and mind by pausing and taking the time make ourselves aware of our anxiety. Anxiety awareness is key to both the individual suffering from the disorder as well as to their loved ones and the surrounding community in order to establish a manageable solution. Antisocial behaviors to the point of isolation indicate an immediate need for treatment.

Our awareness of our anxiety helps us to identify and respond to danger in ‘fight or flight’ mode. It can motivate to us face up to dealing with difficult challenges. The ‘right’ amount of anxiety can help us perform better and stimulate action and creativity.

Awareness of the mental and physical impacts of anxiety and any unprocessed emotions can lead to more clarity about why anxiety is happening. In recognizing your habitual anxiety and moving through the steps to ease it, you can become more relaxed and kinder to yourself. You can process and release your emotions. Perhaps after some time of practice and awareness, you change this inner energy that has been anxiety for so long into something positive, like joy or creativity.

Mindfulness Awareness

balance blur boulder close up

But being aware in this way is tricky. You can’t just think yourself into it. You have to use mindful awareness to get you there. And the way you do that it is by developing a mindfulness practice. Mindful awareness can be accomplished by doing long meditations (15 to 45 minutes; see above YouTube video) and by doing shorter focused-attention exercises (3-10 minutes). When you do this it fires up a different part of your brain. It starts up the part of your brain that brings on soothing and calm. When you are stuck in bottom-up awareness, your brain is doing something else because it is busily trying to think of ways to control the anxiety.

Deep Meditation Music

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! I hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today I will talk to you about deep relaxation. Hope you will find relaxation with this deep meditation music.

What is deep relaxation?

silhouette of man at daytime
Photo by Prasanth Inturi on Pexels.com

According to the Veterans Affairs Center for Integrated Healthcare, deep relaxation is an active skill that you can learn to gain better control over your body. The purpose of this practice is to relieve tension. It decreases the wear and tear of life’s challenges on the mind and body. Deep relaxation is more complex than unwinding in a bathtub, or in front of the TV at the end of a long day. Deep relaxation is
not produced solely in response to listening to quiet music, reading a good book, or restful sleeping, though these activities can be relaxing.

Deep relaxation (also known as the “relaxation response”) is a specific state that is the opposite of a state of tension triggered by stress. It consists of several physical changes in your body that include a decrease in heart rate, blood pressure, muscle tension, and respiration (breathing) rate.

Our bodies are designed to respond automatically to stress. This response, referred to as the “fight-or-flight response”, consists of a predictable pattern of physical changes that prepare you to deal with perceived threat or danger (by fighting or fleeing).

Photo by Elina Fairytale on Pexels.com

When the perceived threat or stress is gone, the body automatically returns to a balanced, resting state. However, for some people who experience prolonged or multiple sources of stress, the body does not fully return to this balanced state. Instead, the fight or flight response continues to work “overtime” which can result in negative consequences to your health (i.e., important bodily functions such as digestion, reproduction, tissue growth and repair, and immune function begin to wear down or malfunction).

Trust me, with the loss and severe illness of love ones, I have been through it a lot. The relaxation response can assist you in quieting the body’s response to stress. It has helped me find grounded and centered. It can prevent some of the “wear and tear” that can come from prolonged or excessive fight-or-flight reactions.
