A Medium Post: Farewell, the Mighty King T’Challa of Wakanda

This week, was a tragic week for all of us. We lost a wonderful and talented actor to Colon Cancer. Chadwick Boseman, the actor who brought life to T’Challa, the king of Wakanda, passed away after a 4-year battle with colon cancer. Though still in disbelieve, fans all across the globe are remembering this real-life superhero with lots of love and tears. Just the tragic death of Kobe Bryant, I am devastated and heart-broken.

This talented actor history to life, from Jackie Robinson, James Brown, to Thurgood Marshall. Most of all, to us he is Black Panther. He was a superhero to us all. Despite his battle with cancer, he kept fight and inspiring us all. Even during his fight against cancer, Chadwick brought us many amazing roles, such as Marshall, Black Panther, and many more. These were all filmed during countless surgeries and chemotherapy. That is the mark of a true real-life superhero, a legend.

Chadwick Boseman left us at the age of 43. I grew up watching all my silver screen superhero to be White. It was the role of King T’Challa, Black Panther, which made us brown and black folks believe someone, who looks like us, can also be a superhero. Black Panther in one movie that inspired so many black youths. He brought hope and dreams to minority youths that they too can be superheroes, not the sidekicks.

Thank you, the mighty King of Wakanda for inspiring so many of us. Little did we know that while bringing us amazing works, you were fighting for your own life, and was going through surgeries and chemotherapy. You are a mighty real-life superhero. We lost not only an amazing artist but also an amazing human being. My condolences and prayers go out to the family of the king of Wakanda. Rest in power might king! Forever, Wakanda.
