Quote of the Day:
Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today, I want to share with you the quote of the day. The quote by John Wooden is quite interesting.
Wooden starts by saying “Talent is God-given, be humble”. It is so true. We are not all born with the same talent, child prodigies, don’t have to work hard for their talent. They have these innate talents that are nurtured by the families for their ultimate success. I am not saying that all talents are innate. There is nature vs. nurture. We may be born with so talents. Those who are born with their talents, if it is not nurtured, they will not prevail. Similarly, the various talented champions would not have been Olympic champions if their talents were not nurtured. At any rate, we should all be humble about our talents. Not everyone is lucky to have their talent getting utilized. Hence, those of us who are lucky to have our talent being nurtured and showcased should be humble.
If those talents make us famous and successful and famous, we should be grateful to all the individuals who helped us come to this position. We have to remember, success and fame can’t be done alone, we are some lucky and just click, others work hard on their talents to become successful. However, success and fame can’t be earned by oneself. It requires support and help. Hence, we should be grateful for that.
The last sentence is “Conceit is self-given, be careful”. According to the dictionary, the definition of conceit is “a strong, exaggerated opinion of one’s self. An example of conceit is having excessive pride in one’s own intellectual abilities”. As the definition says, conceit is exaggerated pride, opinion about one’s own intellectual abilities. We are seeing that first hand in our current climate. Whether it’s about the election or about the pandemic, we are seeing so many conceitful behaviors, we need to be careful because conceit leads to loss of society’s moral compass.
