Description: This is a beautiful black sheer floral tunic with intricate embroidery works where you can flaunt your femininity without sacrificing comfort with this 100% cotton fabric. Whether you want to wear it with a dress can for work, as I did, or wear it with a short for the beach you cannot go wrong with this tunic.

Verdict: I love this tunic. I always wear it either at work skinny pants or with leggings. It’s very comfortable during the summer months and I am glad it’s 100 percent cotton.

ipsy.jpg

Hi there my lovelies! Hope you had a great weekend. Today I want to take the time and talk to you about the June.

Description: The June Glam Bag came in a fabric bag with a picture of a lip with red lipstick. Yes, you got it right, red lipstick. How chick is that! It’s a not-so-subtle reminder to *always* speak your mind! The bag is perfect for making a glam statement. Inside are five products: NYX Professional Makeup Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé, BioRepublic SkinCare Aloe Rescue Revitalizing Fiber Mask & Green Tea Detox Purifying Fiber Mask, the Balm Cosmetics INSTAIN Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush in Pinstripe, Skone Cosmetics Insanely Intense Tattooed Waterproof Eyeliner, and Luna By Luna Cosmetics
Eyeshadow in Jace.

NYX Professional Makeup Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé ($6 value): It is very creamy and soft with a nice texture and beautiful color. However, it really does not last long. I will only give it a 3.5 to 4 stars at most.

BioRepublic SkinCare Aloe Rescue Revitalizing Fiber Mask & Green Tea Detox Purifying Fiber Mask ($9.98 value): The Green Tea mask is infused with a ton of revitalizing ingredients (like natural green tea extract and Vitamin E) that leave your skin looking and feeling SO fresh and SO clean. One the other hand, the Aloe mask is full of soothing aloe vera juice will immediately hydrate and calm down sun-stressed skin.

theBalm Cosmetics INSTAIN Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush in Pinstripe ($21 value):  This talc-free, fade-resistant formula is perfect for hot days and even hotter nights. The shade is beautiful, and it stays very well. I’ve been given a lot of blushes and would definitely like to get more varied items.

Skone Cosmetics Insanely Intense Tattooed Waterproof Eyeliner ($20 value): A precise, felt tip makes creating cat eyes and graphic looks SUPER easy. I absolutely love the eyeliner with its precise tip and it lasts such a long time.

Luna By Luna Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Jace ($15 value): The site says it’s vegan and cruelty-free and only been tested on party animals. There is not much pigmentation even with eye primer. I am not a fan of this shadow at all.

Designing for the Future: Fashion and Beauty Trends We Need to Consider Now

Hi there my lovelies! Hope you are doing well. Lately, I cannot stop thinking about what step backward the US has taken by Trump pulling the country out of the Paris Climate Accord. Sadly this year the US has joined countries like Nicaragua and Syria as the only nations not to be proud of.

Though as a trained Epidemiologist all I could think of is what kind of message are we sending to the rest of the world? However, it was nice to see 175 US cities and 13 states vowed to continue their commitment to the Paris Accord. I think this is a good start but since our own leaders don’t our best interest in heart we all must work together. Businesses also showed their disagreement with the decision. However, more needs to be done.

Since I am a big fashion and beauty enthusiastic, I think that fashion design and beauty is another area where the future trend can tap into. The fashion industry is $1.2 trillion global industry. When we think of climate change we rarely think of how cotton production is responsible for 2.6% of global water use. It is the second most polluting industry in the world after oil. Additionally, dyeing, printing, and bleaching are one of the most energy and chemical intensive stages along the manufacturing line.

Similarly reducing your beauty footprint doesn’t simply mean stop buying new makeup products. You can take some simple steps and buy organic and green products to reduce your carbon footprint. We as consumer should start by

  • Turn off the tap running while brushing teeth, shaving, and washing face.
  • Reduce hot water use (25% of the energy the average family uses each year is for just heating water).
  • Try products that are vegan and not tested on animals.
  • Skip the daily shampoo
  • Look for Recyclable Packaging

However, some of these environmentally friendly designs are beyond affordable for many people. Designs by designers such as Kowtow offers organic fashion ranging from $89 to $349.  Amour Vert, on the other hand, creates clothes for a long life cycle since it will be able to withstand one hundred washes and still feels soft. As a result, we’ll buy less often and will be less likely to give it away or throw it away. Their prices range from upper $30s for their tees to $200s for their dressing and shoes. Most of all, for every tee you buy a tree will be planted in North America with their partner American Forest. We need more businesses who can bring eco-friendly sustainable fashion and beauty to mainstream market at reasonable price.

Global warming is not some hoax invented by the Chinese. It’s real. The climate change is real. Each of us need to play a role in reducing carbon emission. As the second most polluting industry, the future of fashion industry should include bringing eco-friendly sustainable fashion and beauty to mainstream market at reasonable price. We owe this to our future and future generation.

Where do you see the future trend of design based on the climate change? Please comment below. I would really love to hear your feedback.
