Mindful Clothing

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. As you know I have been working hard to live a more mindful life, on every aspects of my life. One this that I am using mindfulness is in my clothing. We are used to buying clothes without giving much thoughts and that leads to more clutter. However, now I try to think mindfully when choosing my clothes. So, let’s learn more about mindful clothing.

Mindful Living

What is mindful living? Mindful living is about living with awareness in the present moment. The mindful living meaning involves taking care of your actions, words, and feelings to ensure that you live a good and present life. It’s about not letting life pass you by while living in reactions and in your head. If you put the same concept in your clothing it can lead to declutter in your closet. Ever found a piece of clothing that feels so you that you reach for it over and over again? That’s because those clothes reaches your core senses and make you feel better about yourself.

Mindful living is not a fad. Some may think this lifestyle includes only things such as meditation and yoga, a healthy and mindful diet, and essentially smelling the roses while trying to live a present and stress-free life.It is far from a fad, mindfulness can be an invaluable life philosophy which can envelop every aspect of life— including shopping and style.

I am particularly guilty of being caught in the frenzy of marked down items and annual sales. We purchase things we don’t need, items that are neither our style nor flattering. Why? Because they are on sale. This is mindless fashion, not mindful. This particularly happens in our attempts to look trendy and sparkling new. As a result, we tend to over-purchase and end up with a closet that just can’t handle it anymore.

You don’t have to be complete minimalist to be a mindful fashionista. A smart and mindful shopper will carve out an afternoon just for shopping and will not settle for anything less than exactly what they are looking for. When you go shopping close your eyes and focus on the feeling of the fabric. Do you like how it feels. Then ask yourself the following sets of questions: Does this look flattering? Does it have a timeless quality to it? Is the fabric great? How does it make me feel? If the answers to all of the questions are positive then you are good to go. When you are shopping online ask yourself the same question. However, since you can’t feel the fabric, come back to the clothing several times and ask yourself the same questions and see if the answer changes. Coming back to the cloth gives us a chance to reset and and really think more openly.

Mindful shopping is a practice of mindful living. Taking the time to actually choose shop, will actually help you save money and, in turn help you minimize clutter in your closet, since you will only buy what you need. I will give you an example, recently I took few days to go through part of my closet and looked through each of my clothing and asked myself the questions above. Before I knew it, I had boxes of clothes for the donation pile. Now imagine, if I did this for all of my clothing.

My dear beautiful lovelies! Mindful clothing is not a minimalist approach. However, being aware of your shopping and clothing will help you save money and declutter in the process. Next time you are browsing for clothes online or are in a store, please ask yourself the above questions and follow mindful shopping habits and see if that makes a difference.

I would love to you if mindful clothing helped you become more aware of your clothing and shopping and helped you declutter. Looking forward to your comments.

CAUSES CLOSE TO MY HEART

PLEASE DONATE DIRECTLY TO THE ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH MY FUNDRAISING LINKS:

I consider myself fortunate to have good health, a full-time job, and a roof over my head. However, there are still so many people who are struggling to put food on their tables. Please join me to help those who are struggling. If you have good health, full-time jobs, and a roof over your head, please join me to help those who are struggling. Whether you donate $5 or $500, you will make a huge difference in someone’s life.

No Kid Hungry:

America’s kids need us. The coronavirus is closing schools nationwide, and millions of vulnerable children are losing the school meals they depend on. For some, it’s the only food they’ll receive on a given day. We have a plan to feed kids, but we need your help today to continue our work to ensure every kid gets three meals a day. You can click above to donate to mygofundme page donation going directly to the organization, or you can click on the direct link to the site.

Food Bank of Maryland:

PLEASE DONATE ANY AMOUNT YOU CAN AND SHARE THE POST WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

Manna Food Center, a nonprofit organization, strives to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County through food distribution, education, and advocacy. Millions of children go to bed hungry in America every year, sadly it’s worse now! Today, 14 million children regularly miss meals — three times more than during the Great Recession and five times more than before the pandemic.

Many parents have lost their job during the pandemic. Sadly, that shows no sign of stopping. Your donation can bring relief to the millions worried about where their next meal will come from. It’s even worse for Latino and Black families, whose rates of nutrition insecurity have spiked to 25% and 30%. In the world’s wealthiest country, this is unconscionable.

Even before the pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated 37 million people in America struggled with hunger and nutrition. The Centers for Disease Control reports 76% of people killed by COVID-19 had at least one underlying condition, most of which were diet-related. Diet-related diseases also fuel skyrocketing health care costs, which rose from 5% to 28% of the federal budget in the past 50 years.

Let’s make the world better, kinder, brighter. Every dollar you give will create real change. $1 will feed 5 hungry children here in the US, but $1,000 will feed 50,000 starving children overseas. Be the good in the lives of many by giving right now.
