Creating a Positive Mindset

Hi there my beautiful lovelies! Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe. Today I will talk to you about how you can turn your brain to positive thinking and creating a positive mindset.

Brain Recap From Last Post

As I have mentioned in my previous post our brains are wired to think negatively. Additionally, our body is made up of different types of chemicals. Some of which are good, some are not so good. Chemicals, including dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, are “happy” chemicals. They are responsible for creating a sense of pleasure or satisfaction. On the other hand, chemicals such as cortisol surges to connect all the neurons active at a single moment, causing the feeling of pain. It motivates you to focus on the cause of the release and work to make it stop. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of not noticing much else except the solution to stop the pain or discomfort.

Retrain Your Brain

Despite the negativity that our brain fosters, we can retain it to be more positive. There are methods you can use to do this. Every day, spend dedicated time looking around specifically for positives. This helps to retrain your brain, making it look for positives in the same way it looks for negatives. I set aside 5 minutes in my calendar to do this. Just as stretching and movement are needed in our life, so is our brain health. Challenging situations and obstacles are a part of life. When you’re faced with one, focus on the good things no matter how small or seemingly insignificant they seem. If you look for it, you can always find the proverbial silver lining in every cloud. If you find yourself thinking negatively, stop and think about where you would find yourself if you turned 180 degrees from this way of thinking.

Additionally, take the time to let people know that you are recognizing positives, no matter how recent they are. This could mean taking time and saying thank you to the co-worker that helped you on a project or your loved ones for their support. Just perform small acts of kindness that will help other people. Helping others or making others feel good will boost your own positivity.

Furthermore, take the time to practice self-love. As I have mentioned before, we tend to become our worse enemy and our biggest critics. So, just take the time to become your own ally. Stop comparing yourself to others. There’s just no point in comparing yourself to anyone else in this world because there’s only one you. Instead, focus on yourself and your journey. The shift of energy, alone, will help you feel free. Similarly, stop worrying about what others think of you. You can’t make everyone happy, so this is a waste of time and will only slow you down on your journey to being the best you. Additionally, no one is perfect. Embrace your mistakes and learn from them. The lesson learned from your mistakes is priceless. We humans grow and evolve over time. Use your mistake to grow and learn to be your positive self. Just remember the following quotes:

Self-compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.

— Christopher Germer

Self-care is not selfish or self-indulgent. We cannot nurture others from a dry well. We need to take care of our own needs first, so that we can give from our surplus, our abundance. When we nurture others from a place of fullness, we feel renewed instead of taken advantage of.

— Jennifer Louden

Finally, just focus on the present moment. Don’t dwell on the past or the future. The present is what we can control in our lives. Just go with the flow. Acknowledge the negative and move on. By practicing being in the moment and making a habit of it – you stop your subconscious mind from doing the driving. Having your conscious mind drive decisions will help you to focus your thoughts towards a more positive, balanced approach. Ask yourselves: what you can do right now? What you are grateful for at the moment, and what you can do to give someone else happiness right now. As the global pandemic taught us tomorrow is not promised to anyone. So, be in the present and train your brain to be positive and self-loving. You will be amazed by the result.

Hope you enjoyed this post. I would love to know how you keep yourself positive. What works and what doesn’t ? I look forward to your comments.

CAUSES CLOSE TO MY HEART

PLEASE DONATE DIRECTLY TO THE ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH MY FUNDRAISING LINKS:

I consider myself fortunate to have good health, a full-time job, and a roof over my head. However, there are still so many people who are struggling to put food on their tables. Please join me to help those who are struggling. If you have good health, full-time jobs, and a roof over your head, please join me to help those who are struggling. Whether you donate $5 or $500, you will make a huge difference in someone’s life.

No Kid Hungry:

America’s kids need us. The coronavirus is closing schools nationwide, and millions of vulnerable children are losing the school meals they depend on. For some, it’s the only food they’ll receive on a given day. We have a plan to feed kids, but we need your help today to continue our work to ensure every kid gets three meals a day. You can click above to donate to my gofundme page donation going directly to the organization, or you can click on the direct link to the site.

Food Bank of Maryland:

PLEASE DONATE ANY AMOUNT YOU CAN AND SHARE THE POST WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

Manna Food Center, a nonprofit organization, strives to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County through food distribution, education, and advocacy. Millions of children go to bed hungry in America every year, sadly it’s worse now! Today, 14 million children regularly miss meals — three times more than during the Great Recession and five times more than before the pandemic.

Many parents have lost their job during the pandemic. Sadly, that shows no sign of stopping. Your donation can bring relief to the millions worried about where their next meal will come from. It’s even worse for Latino and Black families, whose rates of nutrition insecurity have spiked to 25% and 30%. In the world’s wealthiest country, this is unconscionable.

Even before the pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated 37 million people in America struggled with hunger and nutrition. The Centers for Disease Control reports 76% of people killed by COVID-19 had at least one underlying condition, most of which were diet-related. Diet-related diseases also fuel skyrocketing health care costs, which rose from 5% to 28% of the federal budget in the past 50 years.

Let’s make the world better, kinder, brighter. Every dollar you give will create real change. $1 will feed 5 hungry children here in the US, but $1,000 will feed 50,000 starving children overseas. Be the good in the lives of many by giving right now.
